Why do we call it Tessie's Market?

Tessie's Market plays homage to a classic Red Sox tradition. Did you know that the Boston Red Sox used to play right down the road at the Huntington Avenue American League Baseball Grounds before moving to Fenway Park in 1912? This is where they won their first World Series in 1903. During the Series, the Royal Rooters fan club sang the song "Tessie" to cheer on the Sox, then the Boston Americans. The continuous singing of the song was attributed to helping secure the win! The "Tessie" tradition lives on today with the Dropkick Murphys updating the original which can be heard during games at Fenway. Another nod is Wally the Green Monster's little sister, Tessie!
